In response to power outages in Plano, cooling centers are now open, according to a city news release.

The cooling centers are another component of the city’s response to severe weather, which affected North Texas early May 28.

The overview

In anticipation of warm and humid conditions later this week, Plano residents are encouraged to seek out areas with power and air conditioning. Per the news release, Oncor officials have informed the city that outages could last multiple days.

Cooling stations are operating at the following Plano library and recreation center locations during normal operation hours:
  • Carpenter Recreation Center
  • Davis Public Library
  • Haggard Public Library
  • Liberty Recreation Center
  • Parr Public Library
  • Oak Point Recreation Center
  • Tom Muhlehbeck Recreation Center
  • Sam Johnson Recreation Center
  • Schimelpfenig Public Library
The Harrington Library is affected by a power outage and unable to operate as a cooling center.
