Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that the completed asphalt overlay project stretched from Plano's east city limits to US 75.

One major road construction project project on Plano’s Parker Road finished last month, while another is set to wrap up in December.

What happened

The asphalt overlay project that stretched along Parker Road from the east city limits to US 75 completed construction Nov. 15, Samson Bekele, senior engineer in Plano’s Public Works Department, said.

Crews are also doing work at the road’s intersections with Coit Road and Alma Drive, according to the city’s website. Both of those projects are set to finish in December.

What’s next

Work on arterial pavement repair from Country Place Drive to Independence Parkway began on Aug. 29, and is expected to last until April 2026, Bekele said.

The current project will replace the road’s outer lines, as the inner lanes were addressed during a water line replacement project that concluded this summer. Up to two lanes from Country Place Drive to Independence Parkway may be closed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Bekele added that the completion of the asphalt overlay project on the east side of Parker Road will make way for crews to begin work on asphalt overlays on the west side of Parker Road, from Parkwood Boulevard to Preston Boulevard.

That project is scheduled to start in April 2025, and last four months, Bekele said.
