Three Plano parks are set for the first step in renovations after council approved roughly $629,000 for renovations at Windhaven, Steeplechase and Westwood parks at a July 28 council meeting.

In a nutshell

The funding from the July 28 meeting will go towards architecture and design services. Funding for the park projects will come from the city’s 2024-25 Capital Maintenance Fund per city documents.

Renovations include irrigation improvements, playground upgrades and new feature installations.

Windhaven Park


Council approved $209,150 for landscape architecture services for Windhaven park renovations, at 3580 Clark Parkway. Improvements include:
  • Two new playgrounds for two different age groups
  • A new pavilion
  • Drainage and irrigation improvements
  • New drinking fountain with a pet bowl
  • Improved seating and lighting
  • Tree planting


Steeplechase Park

Steeplechase Park at 1500 Balcones Drive, received $282,660 for landscape architecture services. Planned improvements include:
  • Picnic shelter renovations
  • Playground pit replacement
  • Sod and tree planting
  • Irrigation system replacement


Westwood Park


Council also approved $137,100 for architectural services for Westwood Park, at 1001 Westwood Drive. Improvements are planned to include:
  • New playground equipment
  • New drinking fountain with pet bowl
  • Adjustments to an athletic court to meet Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
  • New pavilion
  • Irrigation, draining and lighting improvements
  • Tree planting
