The Plano Multicultural Outreach Roundtable is hosting a free citizenship workshop Feb. 8.

The gist

The event is set for 2 p.m. at the Sockwell Center, 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd, Plano. The workshop is meant to provide non-citizens with “vital information on applying for citizenship, including who can apply, how to apply, when to apply and the benefits of citizenship,” according to a press release from the city.

The details

Presentations on various topics will include Immigration and Naturalization Service policies, background checks, English as a second language education providers in the area and citizenship courses offered by nonprofit organizations.


Other participants include immigration attorneys who speak many languages such as Spanish, Chinese and Arabic, according to the release. Attendees can receive assistance from Citizenship and Immigration Services and attorneys for filing citizenship applications.

Free refreshments and desserts will be provided.
