A portion of Chisholm Trail that connects Jack Carter Park and Memorial Park in Plano is set for improvements.

What you need to know

Plano City Council approved the just over $1 million contract for construction Jan. 27.

The construction will replace the current trail with an elevated concrete trail while adding a guardrail and signage.

Why it matters

The section of the trail set for construction crosses underneath the Spring Creek Parkway vehicle bridge and is “subject to severe flooding” when it rains, according to city documents.

The project will raise the trail above water level, which will also reduce the amount of debris and algae accumulated during rain events.
