The Plano Public Library is celebrating 60 years of providing community services, according to a news release from the city.

Plano City Council voted to create a municipal library in 1965 and the first first, Maribelle M. Davis, is the namesake for the Davis Library, per the release.

To celebrate, the library will feature several programs and activities throughout the year and the community is invited to a kick-off party from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 18 which will feature a mini-carnival at the Davis Library. Activities include a two-person circus show, balloon twisters, games and more.
