Plano’s Sen. Florence Shapiro Council Chamber is set to reopen Dec. 2 following eight months of construction.

The gist

The chambers at 1520 K Ave., in the Plano Municipal Center, will begin hosting City Council and planning and zoning commission meetings again Dec. 2.

The chambers closed for renovations April 1, and meetings have since been held at Davis Library.

The $6 million project was funded through the city’s 2021 bond and Public Education Government Funds. The renovations focused on the following areas:
  • Removing barriers to improve accessibility in the council chambers
  • Updating the audio, video and acoustical components
  • Upgrading security
