Plano City Council approved a nearly $8.5 million contract for the Enfield Park project with Groves Electrical Service during the July 22 meeting.
The overview
The project includes two components: the replacement of restroom buildings in northern and southern areas of the park and the replacement of pole lighting for eight ballfields. According to city documents, the lighting for the field is 36 years old and has reached the limit of structural integrity.
The lighting improvements will include a transition to LED lights and replacement of lighting controls, wiring, light poles and fixtures, switch gears, and underground conduits.
The city currently contracts portable restroom trailers between February and November because of the limited restroom facilities at the park, per city documents. Each restroom building has two stalls, but the new improvements will bring the total to 20 stalls split between the north and south areas of the park.
What’s next?
According to city documents, the project will take around 18 months to complete, with work divided into two nine-month phases. Work crews will first improve the lighting for the four fields in the northern area of the park before completing the four southern fields, according to city documents.
