Residents could soon be appointed to a new Plano commission, which will review and recommend projects to be included in a 2025 bond referendum.

Plano City Council approved the creation of the 2025 Bond Referendum Citizen Advisory Committee during the June 24 meeting.

What you need to know

Individuals in Plano are eligible to apply for membership on the committee ahead of the appointments, which will be made during the July 22 meeting. The committee will work with city staff to go over various proposed bond projects and provide a recommendation to council members about what to include in a potential bond election.

City officials outlined the details of a potential 2025 bond earlier this month.

According to city documents, the mayor and council members will each appoint one individual to the committee next month.

What’s next?

Meetings for the committee are expected to begin in August and be held on a monthly basis, according to city officials.

City staff are planning to have the review and recommendation process wrapped up ahead of a February 2025 deadline to call for a bond election May 3, 2025.
