Compensation for utility easements to facilitate a North Texas Municipal Water District project in Plano will see the city receive more than $600,000.

Plano City Council approved the compensation for the utility easements along Legacy Trail worth $606,500 during its May 28 meeting.

The overview

The city is set to receive compensation after the granting of temporary and permanent easements during the April 8 meeting, which will allow the North Texas Municipal Water District to complete improvements to its 121 force main.

According to city documents, the city is granting 6.5 acres of land for the addition of 8,000 linear feet of new sewer line along Legacy Trail. Another 7.1 acres is being granted as temporary construction easements.


From the proceeds of granting the easements, $425,200 will be allocated for land acquisitions for future parks and another $181,300 will pay for tree replacements throughout Plano parks, per city documents.

Construction on the improvements of the 121 force main is expected to begin later this year, along with two other North Texas Municipal Water District projects.
