The city of Plano is hosting a fireworks show on the Fourth of July for residents looking to celebrate.

The details

The family-friendly event will have vendors with food and beverage vendors and live music. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome, but pets are not allowed, according to the city's website.

Plano’s All American 4th will be at Oak Point Park, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway, from 6-10 p.m. Parking will be available at Collin College's Spring Creek campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano.

The context

In Plano, the possession or use of fireworks or sparklers is illegal without a permit. Roman candles, mortars, fountains, snaps, rockets and ground spinners are also off limits within the city. This also applies to the 5,000 feet surrounding city limits, with fines up to $2000, according to the city’s website.

“Our first and principal priority is always people’s safety,” Lt. Daniel Daly said in an emailed statement. “Our message has always been, and will continue to be, leave the fireworks to the professionals.”
