The filing period for the May 3 Plano ISD board of trustees election is closed and voters will decide on three contested elections.

Up for election

Place 1, Place 2, Place 3 and Place 6 are all up for election; however, only three of those races are contested.

In Place 1, current board Member Lauren Tyra is seeking re-election and has no challenger. Sam Johnson and Xiomar Pierre filed to run for Place 2. Place 2 board member Angela Powell did not file for re-election.

Board President Nancy Humphrey, who serves in Place 3, will have a challenger in Harper Weaver.


In the Place 6 race, three candidates have filed—Elisa Klein, Andrew Rettke and Dash Weerasinghe. Current Place 6 board member Jeri Chambers did not file for re-election.

What else?

The board approved a resolution calling the May election during its February meeting. Early voting will take place April 22 through April 25 between 8 p.m. and 5 p.m.; April 26 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; April 27 from noon to 6 p.m.; and April 28 and April 29 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
