Abuelo’s permanently closed the Plano location during the week of March 16, said a representative at the Abuelo’s location in The Colony.

According to a phone recording at the Plano location, the restaurant closed “due to circumstances beyond our control.”

Documents filed with the city of Plano building inspection department cite the commercial permit was received in 1999. Construction for the new build was $1.4 million dollars for a 10K square- foot, one-story building, according to the document.

The Mexican restaurant’s menu included enchiladas, burritos and more.

The company website states there are 20 remaining locations and the closest one to Plano is in The Colony.
