Realizing a vision: Collin Creek Mall redevelopment turns focus above ground

Four years after work started, drivers on US 75 are finally seeing the progress at Collin Creek Mall.

Two of the five large piles of dirt blocking the view of the soon-to-be mixed-use development—which will feature retail, homes, apartments, two parks and more—are now gone, with the other three set to be removed “in short order,” Plano Director of Special Projects Peter Braster said.

The next steps are to finish work on the park, street network and other infrastructure on the development’s east side. Construction on two apartment buildings and the main mall building is also set to begin later this year, Centurion American Vice President Rob Romo said.


Plano voters pass all 7 bond propositions

With all precincts reporting, all seven Plano bond propositions have passed.

According to unofficial voting results, 71.99% of voters voted in support of Proposition A. Proposition B and C garnered 59.76% and 61.6% of "For" votes, respectively. Proposition D and E passed with 65.3% and 55.72% of votes in support, respectively. Voters approved Proposition F with 66.66% of the vote, and Proposition G saw 71.69% vote "For."

Plano’s Legacy West acquired for $785 million by Kite Realty, GIC


Kite Realty and Singapore-based investment company GIC acquired Legacy West late last month for $785 million, according to a news release from commercial real estate company Prism Places.

The mixed-use development located near the corner of SH 121 and Dallas North Tollway opened in 2017.

Plano to spend $16 million on sewer improvements

Sewer improvements are coming to West Plano Parkway after City Council unanimously approved roughly $16 million to improve 7,000 feet of wastewater sewer line at a May 12 meeting.


The sewer improvements will increase the sewer’s wastewater capacity and prevent sewage back ups, according to city documents.

Section of Spring Creek Parkway in Plano to close in June

Spring Creek Parkway from Park Boulevard to Parker Road will be closed in both directions from June 2-30 to create a safe work zone, according to a news release from the city. Crews will be repairing potholes, cracks and sunken portions of the roadway. All asphalt patches will be removed while portions of sidewalk will also be repaired.
