Kendrix Wesley and Jeff Bergus reopened Ten 20 Gallery August 15. The art gallery was originally opened in 2016 and was located at 1020 15th St.

What happened

Due to various reasons, the business partners closed the first location in 2018.

“We represented over 60 different artists at that time, the place was too small for what we were trying to do and then the rent just kind of skyrocketed,” Wesley said. “So for the past few years, we've just simply been doing pop up shows, and then this place became available, it is an ideal space— It's three times the size [of the former space].”

What to expect

Currently, artwork by Cherie Fruehan is on display at the gallery. Kendrix said this art will remain on the walls at least through the grand opening on Oct. 4.

Plans to incorporate culinary art, that compliments the visual art, are being made.

“There are mixologists who make specialty cocktails—bubbles, smoke and everything,” Wesley said. “It's going to be color paired with the art.”

Other artistic genres, such as spoken word artists and modern dancers, will be included in the gallery’s schedule.

“Once you start bringing in different types of artists and their mediums, reaching out to who follows them, it's going to give the gallery more traction,” Wesley said.
