As an expression of gratitude for Plano's friendly welcome to Toyota Motor Corporation's North American headquarters relocation to the city, the company is inviting the general public to its "Hello Texas Block Party" at Bishop Park in Legacy Town Center on Monday from noon to 8 p.m.

The celebration includes activities for the family, food from 18 local and diverse restaurants and live entertainment from artists, such as Elaine Garcia, Jack Ingram and Bobby Pulido. Guests also have opportunities to meet FC Dallas player George John, NASCAR driver Darrell Wallace Jr., Bassmaster Elite Pro Tournament Angler Kelly Jordan and Olympic Gold Medalist Nastia Liukin.

Director of Plano Media Relations Steve Stoler said the company has been planning the event for several months and that the community-wide celebration is intended to take the place of a traditional groundbreaking.

"We're looking forward to celebrating Toyota's arrival," Stoler said. "I can't think of a better way to celebrate than with an all-day Texas-sized party with entertainment, giveaways, complementary food and beverages and fireworks."

Stoler said Toyota has yet to set a date for a groundbreaking but that it will be during a small ceremony, with construction still expected later this fall.
