Under the MCDC’s Retail Development Infrastructure Grants program, project developers can apply for up to $50,000 per project. Funds are available for exterior infrastructure enhancements that support new or expanding retail businesses, according to a news release.
Grant funds were awarded to the following projects:
- 380 Marketplace: up to $40,000
- For infrastructure improvements, including exterior electrical, water line replacement and parking lot repairs
- Cotton Mill: $27,458.92
- For installation of drainage and replacement of concrete with turf for an outdoor wedding venue and gathering space at the Cotton Mill
“We’re proud to partner with retail businesses and developers that are making critical upgrades to improve the safety, functionality, and appeal of their retail spaces,” MCDC board chairperson Angela Richardson-Woods said in a statement. “These infrastructure investments benefit not only the businesses but the surrounding community and local economy as a whole.”
