The McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board is holding its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in person this year.

The ceremony is expected to last about an hour and will take place at the Van Tuyl Plaza of Craig Ranch. The service will honor armed service members who lost their lives serving the country. Four new names are being added to the memorial wall this year, bringing the total of former McKinney residents honored there to 428.

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. May 29 at the McKinney Veterans Memorial Park, located at 6053 Weiskopf Avenue. More information can be found at www.facebook.com/veteransmemorialmckinney.

Additionally, the city of McKinney announced there will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, May 31. Collections will slide one day for the rest of the week. The city has a list of office and facility closures for the holiday here.
