McKinney ISD officials OK $6.5M investment in safety, security upgrades

McKinney ISD leaders have approved security system refreshes for the district's high schools and stadium. A $6.55 million purchase of physical security upgrades through bond funds was approved by the board of trustees April 22. The system, Verkada, is an integrated security platform system that will replace security cameras, door access control and other physical safety measures across campuses.

McKinney ISD to invest $2M in campus science, technology programs

McKinney ISD is looking to repurpose $2 million set aside in bond funds to invest in science, technology and art programs in the district. The funds are already allocated to science, technology, engineering and math—or STEM—education and will be repurposed to better meet the needs of MISD’s campuses and students.


McKinney ISD names 5 administrative roles, including assistant superintendent

Superintendent Shawn Pratt announced the new leadership roles during March 25 and April 22 board meetings. The new district leaders include the assistant superintendent of human resources; executive director of elementary school leadership; chief school improvement and federal program officer; director of purchasing; and the principal of Wolford Elementary School.

McKinney ISD to invest $1.63M in elementary school playground upgrades

McKinney ISD will complete upgrades at 10 elementary school playgrounds this summer. The playgrounds meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, but the upgrades will create a firmer travel surface that will make the playgrounds more inclusive for students.


Malvern Elementary School to undergo renovations for preschool program expansion

Four new restrooms and a classroom will be added to the west wing of the elementary school for the preschool program.
