Construction of a new industrial warehouse site named the McKinney Logistics Center is set to begin in mid-August.
The 65-acre center will be located west of SH 5 between Bloomdale and Wilmeth roads, east of Shawnee Drive.
The site will consist of four industrial warehouse buildings, totaling just over 950,000 square feet. Buildings will range in size from 129,000-385,000 square feet, according to site plans presented at a July 22 McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
In addition, Cypress Hill Drive will also be extended northwest through the center, according to site plans.
At this time, the owner of the project—Core5 Industrial Partners—does not have any tenants in line, according to Core5 Construction Manager Joe Doyle. However, Core5 expects the spaces to fill as the center begins to take shape.
Construction is expected to take roughly 14 months to complete and is expected to be delivered by summer 2020.
Doyle said Core5 picked McKinney for its location and easy access to and from other cities and states. He said the hope is for the center to house a variety of companies and different uses.
“We’ve seen a lot of companies that are eager to get up into that area,” Doyle said. “We are just excited to work with McKinney and get this project started and hopefully get some more work up there in the future.”
The company owns industrial centers in several states, including Illinois, California, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida as well as Texas with properties in Plano, Carrollton and Dallas, according to Core5's website.
Core5 is owned by the 175-year-old Japanese industrial real estate company Kajima USA Inc., which is the Kajima Corp.’s U.S. division, according to its website.
