Editor's note: This article has been updated. City Council District 4 seat is up for election not the District 3 seat.

It has been a week since the filing period opened Jan. 16 for those interested in running for a McKinney City Council seat and McKinney ISD board of trustees seat in the May 4 election.

Three City Council seats are up for election, including an at large position as well as District 2 and District 4 seats.

As of Jan. 22, two individuals have filed to be candidates. Frederick Frazier filed to run for the at large position, and incumbent Rainey Rogers is running for the District 2 seat. No candidate has filed for the District 4 seat.

Three MISD seats are also up for election, including places 4 and 5, and place 6, which is an at large seat. Incumbent Lynn Sperry has filed for Place 5. Incumbent Stephanie O'Dell and board Vice President Amy Dankel told Community Impact Newspaper they will run for Place 6 and Place 4, respectively.

The filing period for candidates will remain open until Feb. 16 at 5 p.m.
