From Coffee with Cops, live music and results from the June 10 runoff election, here are three things to know to get your week started.

City Council has new members

La’Shadion Shemwell, Scott Elliott and Charlie Philips won the District 1, District 3 and At Large seats, respectively, for McKinney City Council after the June 10 runoff election.

Shemwell received 661 votes or approximately 57.2 percent of the vote. Elliott received 1,053 votes or approximately 56 percent of the vote, and Philips received more than 3,000 votes or approximately 65.1 percent of the vote.

More information about each council member, including their qualifications and top priorities, can be found in Community Impact Newspaper’s previous candidate Q&A’s. These questions were sent to candidates prior to the May 6 election.

The event will be held at Whataburger, 9053 W. University Drive, McKinney, from 7-9 a.m. For more information, contact McKinney Police Department Crime Prevention Officer Randy Haak at 972-547-2795.
