With all voting centers reporting, here are voting results for the McKinney City Council runoff election.

District 1


After trailing behind Dusttin Pearson during the May 6 election, tonight La'Shadion Shemwell has won the District 1 seat.

Tonight, Shemwell had 661 votes and Pearson had 494 votes.

In the May 6 election, Shemwell received 40.07 percent of the vote while Pearson had 42.13 percent of the vote.



“I want to be a diverse voice and a balance on the city council," Shemwell said.

Shemwell said he wants to make sure people are not taxed our of their homes and work to have a strong public transportation system to attract businesses and help McKinney residents.

District 3


Scott Elliott has won the District 3 seat with 1,053 votes. His opponent Margaret Harsch had 829 votes.



"I have a lot to learn and a lot to get caught up on," Elliott said.

After a few days rest, he said he will learn about the budget and help name people to boards and commissions.

At Large


With more than 3,000 votes, Charlie Philips won the At Large seat. His opponent, Derek Baker, received 1,700 votes during the runoff election.



“I want to see McKinney better than it is today and I want to leave it better than I found it," Philips said.

Results are unofficial until canvassed.
