Commissioners Court to discuss city of McKinney's recent permitting on Monday

The Collin County Commissioners Court will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Jack Hatchell Adminstration Building, 2300 Bloomdale Road, McKinney, for a regularly scheduled court meeting. The agenda includes a discussion regarding the city of McKinney issuing certain permits within its extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ, which is land surrounding the city limits that's not yet part of McKinney. Currently, the city of McKinney and Collin County are in two separate lawsuits regarding which entity has permitting rights within that area. Last week, County Judge Keith Self sent a letter to McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller expressing concern about the city's recent permitting actions. To learn more, click here.

Parking garage discussion included in Tuesday's City Council meeting

The McKinney City Council will meet at 6 p.m. March 7 at McKinney City Hall, 222 N. Tennessee St., McKinney. On the agenda is a much-discussed potential parking garage in downtown McKinney just east of the square near the intersection of Chestnut and Virginia streets. According to city documents, the city has the option to lease the parking garage from the garage's owners, who own the property where the potential garage will sit. According to city documents, there are four different options for the city to consider, each with different costs and parking space totals. Two of those options include closing the city street between the garage and its neighboring business Thomason Tire. Thomason Tire owners have sent a letter of opposition to the city regarding the street closure. For more information, click here.
