Gather on the Square, an event venue, is now open in Historic Downtown McKinney.
The event space is owned and operated by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and offers rentable space for a variety of events.
The details
The McKinney Chamber of Commerce team is “reinventing” the space, which has been used as an event venue under multiple operators, President and CEO Lisa Hermes said. It will continue to host milestone events such as weddings, birthday parties and baby showers, but the team is also looking to host civic and community events as well as corporate gatherings.
“We truly want to be a place where people come to gather,” Hermes said.
The venue can accommodate roughly 200 people, depending on the event space configuration, she said. Preferred pricing and benefits are available for members of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, the business’s website states.
Since establishing the business, upgrades have been implemented for the venue’s audio and video equipment, including the addition of a second projector and screen, Hermes said.
The impact
Hermes said establishing the event space helps to sustain the chamber’s operations. When the space became available for lease, McKinney Chamber of Commerce officials saw an opportunity to generate revenue outside of chamber member dues, she said.
Hermes said operating the downtown venue also establishes the physical chamber’s presence in an important part of the city.
“Our origins really begin in the heart of our community, and truly the heart of our community is our downtown area,” she said. “For us to be in that space brings it all full circle for us.”
