The personal aviation company is investing $13 million into the new facility, according to a news release. The 45,000-square-foot facility will include a 15,000-square-foot service hangar and a storage hangar of the same size. The facility will also feature a flight simulation space, a retail store, a customer lounge with a viewing balcony and more.
“The Dallas metroplex is a central location for many of our SR Series and Vision Jet owners,” said Todd Simmons, president of customer experience at Cirrus Aircraft, in a statement. “With this new expansion at Cirrus McKinney, we are excited to continue enhancing the aircraft ownership experience for our current owners and also create an environment to introduce more people to the benefits of personal aviation.”
The company began operations in McKinney in 2019 before opening a facility at the airport in late 2021.
The new facility will expand upon operations the company currently conducts at the airport, including aircraft sales, flight training, factory service and aircraft management, according to the release. The company currently employees over 50 people in the McKinney area and plans to add more positions, the release stated.
Cirrus Aircraft makes and sells the SR Series piston aircraft and the Vision Jet—a single-engine personal jet—among other aircraft. Cirrus also offers flight kits, training on piloting, operations and air safety, and aircraft maintenance and support services.
“We could not be prouder to be the home of everything you're doing here. You guys are, as I said, industry leaders, innovators, and we just love being able to brag that you are here in this city,” McKinney Mayor George Fuller said.
