The city of McKinney is adding to its collection of murals downtown.

McKinney City Council agreed to a contract with artists Angela Pitts and Treg Miller for a city-sponsored mural in an amount not to exceed $10,000 July 27, per meeting documents.

The mural will be located on the Woodsmen of the World Building at 119 S. Tennessee St. in downtown McKinney, documents stated. The city believes the mural will “provide the public with an aesthetically pleasing experience,” meeting documents stated.

The city is partnering with Cadence Cyclery of McKinney, located within the building, to provide the public mural. The business is providing a private donation for the mural.

A call for artists was sent out this spring, with a cutoff date of May 7.

“I thought it was great,” Mayor George Fuller said about the concept art for the mural that was shown during the meeting.
