The joint effort between the towns of Flower Mound and Double Oak calls for replacing the two-lane asphalt road with a two-lane urban collector street, according to the release from Flower Mound. The project also includes a roundabout at the intersection of Waketon and Chinn Chapel roads. An enclosed storm drainage system will also be installed. The road work extends on Waketon to the intersection of Cross Timbers Road in Double Oak.
As part of Phase 1 work, the westbound lane of Waketon will be closed from Parksdale Drive to Chinn Chapel. Detours will be posted. The eastbound lane of Waketon will remain open to traffic, Flower Mound stated.
The project is expected to be completed in fall 2022.
