DALLAS-FORT WORTH

Highland Village City Council Place 3

Andrew Crawford

Why are you running to represent Highland Village residents on the City Council?
AC: Because Highland Village is a great place to live, and I believe we’re all in this together from our homes to our neighborhoods, and ultimately our village. That strength is best seen in our safe, strong and sustainable community and, if elected, I would like to contribute my voice to maintain that legacy.
What will you bring to this office in terms of your qualifications or perspective?
AC: Similar to the people who came before me, I am focused on enriching the community and plan to bring my strong work ethic to get things done. Plus, having spent time on three continents, traveled extensively and managed international teams, I have some understanding of the diversity of our community and hope to ensure that all our residents' experiences are considered. Lastly, I hope to bring some fresh perspectives. Although I understand experience is important, I feel there is currently a lot of experience on the council and recognizing that balance is important, having fresh ideas will prevent us from becoming stuck and not moving forward.
If elected, what would your top priorities be over the coming term?
AC: The continued development of our parks and facilities.

Why are you running to represent Highland Village residents on the City Council?
ML: My initial reason for running for City Council back in 2014 was I thought my job experience and my time on the Planning and Zoning Commission would be a benefit to the city that I love. I am running for re-election because I want to continue to make a positive impact on our city such as my achievements on council like lowering our tax rate, making our city safer and improving our parks and trails.
What will you bring to this office in terms of your qualifications or perspective?
ML: With seven years of service, I am the most tenured member of City Council with the exception of Mayor Charlotte Wilcox. I have spent many hours over the years listening to residents, examining budgets, reviewing ordinances, reviewing site plans, reviewing candidates for boards and commissions, interviewing senior city staff and working hard to keep Highland Village the great place to live that it is. For me, there is no learning curve, and I will hit the ground running without missing a beat. I will continue to maintain the delicate balance of keeping our taxes low and our services high.
If elected, what would your top priorities be over the coming term?
ML: My top priorities are to make sure our city has the best people and equipment, to keep Highland Village one of the safest cities in Texas, to keep our taxes as low as possible, to maintain our beautiful parks and trails, to promote the highest quality developments and to keep local control here in Highland Village.
