Denton County Public Health announced April 25 that a Denton woman over 80 years old has died due to COVID-19, bringing the county’s total number of coronavirus-related deaths to 20.

“As we report the loss of a twentieth life to COVID-19 in Denton County today, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers,” said Denton County Judge Andy Eads in a statement. “We know that each life lost to COVID-19 is one too many.”

Officials also announced that an additional 22 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed locally, bringing the county’s total number of confirmed cases to 702.

So far, 337 residents who were diagnosed with the virus have recovered, and 345 cases remain active, according to public health officials.

Thirty-one Flower Mound residents, nine Highland Village residents and 59 Lewisville residents have tested positive for the virus.
