A project intended to build new sidewalks within Coppell is now underway, according to a city news release.

Once complete, the new sidewalk will provide a pedestrian connection from the Blackberry Farms development to Lakeside Elementary School. Construction for the project began May 10.

The overview

According to the city’s construction activity webpage, improvements to the area include:
  • New sidewalk
  • Pedestrian handrails
  • Utility relocations
  • Accessible crossings and connections
To allow work crews to construct the new sidewalk, the right lane for westbound traffic along Sandy Lake Road near Kimbel Kourt will be closed throughout the project.

Coppell City Council approved the expenditure of $244,706 for the project last December. Construction of the sidewalks is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
