P. Wylie Burge has won the race for the Place 1 seat on the Dallas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors, according to unofficial results. With 100% of precincts reporting, Burge took 66.48% of the votes, or 43,061 of the ballots cast. Challenger Ekambar Kumar Singirikonda received 21,716 votes.

Burge will serve a four-year term.

P. Wylie Bruge continues to hold a lead over challenger Ekambar Kumar Singirikond in the Place 1 race for the Dallas Central Appraisal District’s Board of Directors. Unofficial results show Burge receiving 40,604 votes, or 66.5%. With 384 of 442 voting centers reporting, Singirikond has received about 33.5% of votes.

With 229 out of 442 voting centers reporting, P. Wylie Burge continues to lead the race with unofficial results showing him receiving 33,528 votes, or 69.07%, in the Place 1 race for the Dallas Central Appraisal District board of directors election. Challenger Ekambar Kumar Singirikonda trails with 32.78% of the vote.

With 78 out of 442 voting centers reporting, P. Wylie Burge maintains his early lead over Ekambar Kumar Singirikonda for the Place 1 position on the Dallas Central Appraisal District board of directors. So far, Burge has received 29,743 votes, or about 67.7%.

For the first time, Dallas County voters are being asked to decide on candidates for the Dallas Central Appraisal District board of directors.

Out of the three appraisal district races, only one is contested with Ekambar Kumar Singirikonda facing off against P. Wylie Burge for the Place 1 position. With early votes coming in, unofficial tallies show Burge taking the lead with 26,614 votes, or 55.89% of votes cast in the race.

What you need to know


According to Senate Bill 2, which was aimed at property and franchise tax relief and passed by the Texas Legislature in 2023, counties with a population of more than 75,000 are able to elect three directors to their appraisal district board. Prior to the bill’s passage, directors on the board were largely appointed positions.

Members of an appraisal district’s board of directors oversee the local agency tasked with property tax values. Directors are involved in hiring the chief appraiser, setting budgets and appointing appraisal review board members.

According to LinkedIn, Singirikonda is a director of development operations engineering for Toyota North America. Burge serves as a podiatrist in Dallas.


What else?

In early voting, there were 47,622 votes cast countywide, which represents about 3.33% of Dallas County’s 1,430,934 voters. Total ballots cast for May 4 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
