Paula Blackmon, Kathy Stewart and Paul Ridley have won the races for Dallas City Council Districts 9, 10 and 14, respectively.

About 115,000 of the 1.39 million registered voters in Dallas County cast ballots during the May 6 election, according to the county's elections department. Mayor Eric Johnson won re-election after being challenged by write-in candidate Kendal Richardson.

District 9

Incumbent Blackmon received 3,720 or 79.71% of the counted votes, according to the elections department. Challenger Kendra Madison received 947 votes.

This will be Blackmon's third term representing District 9, which includes Lakewood and parts of Lake Highlands. She was first elected in 2019.

District 10

Newcomer Stewart received 3,879 or 67.87% of the vote total, according to unofficial results. Opponents Brian Hasenbauer, Chris Carter and Sirrano Keith Baldeo received 1,102, 641 and 93 votes, respectively.

Stewart will replace District 10 Council Member Adam McGough, who reached his term limit. Stewart, the former executive director of Uptown Dallas Inc., will represent much of Lake Highlands as the District 10 council member.

"I want to thank the residents of D10, my family and friends for your support that has made this win possible," Stewart said. "I’ve been reminded throughout this campaign what a special community Lake Highlands and D10 is. Now I’m ready to roll up my sleeves."

District 14

Incumbent Ridley received 3,488 or 62.52% of the vote total. Challengers Amanda Schulz and Joseph F. Miller received 1,841 and 250 votes, respectively. This will be Ridley's second term representing District 14, which includes parts of East Dallas, after being elected in 2021.

Ridley noted his focus on city policies as part of the reason for his win.

“It was a campaign that centered on the issues—the accomplishments of the first term and the priorities for what I want to accomplish in the next term," Ridley said. "And that’s how it should be. It should be focused on the issues and discussion of policy alternatives rather than simply negative attacks.”

Council members are elected to two-year terms, while the mayor is elected to a four-year term. This is the first council election using new district maps approved in June.
