Tuesday, Sept. 1, is the start of dove hunting season in North Texas, which runs until Nov. 8 and again from Dec. 18 through Jan. 7, 2027, according to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department website.
According to the city of Frisco, all dove hunters require permission from a property owner within designated areas before hunting on any tract of land.

Hunters must remain at least 1,000 feet from schools, day care facilities and hospitals, and at least 600 feet from residential buildings.
"Additionally, hunters should ensure—as always—that they fire their weapons in a manner not reasonably expected to cause a projectile to cross the boundary of property tracts," the city's website states.
Throughout dove hunting season, the Frisco Police Department will continue to work with landowners and hunters to ensure safe hunting practices are followed. If residents feel that safe, reasonable distances aren’t maintained by hunters, they are urged to contact police.

The city has provided a map that shows hunting areas in Frisco. Blue areas represent land 50 acres or larger and green areas represent land 10 acres or larger.
Dove hunters must use center-fire rifles, rim-fire rifles or pistols in blue areas and shotguns or bows and arrows in green areas, according to the city website. More information about state hunting laws can be viewed here.
