Barkbus, a luxury mobile dog grooming company based in Southern California, expanded to Dallas as its first non-Californian service area starting in April. In addition to Lake Highlands and Lakewood, the Dallas service areas include Lower Greenville, Oak Lawn, Preston Hollow and Vickery Meadow.
The company said in a press release that it chose to expand to Dallas because of the high volume of dog owners in the city. In 2021, about 41% of Dallas households owned at least one dog, and more than 57,000 households owned four or more dogs, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.
The company’s goal is to “end traumatic trips to the salon and provide a superior mobile grooming experience,” according to its website. Expert pet stylists travel directly to customers’ homes, offering baths, brushing and blowouts, teeth and ear cleanings, nail filings and trimmings, and breed-specific grooming.
