Four new pickleball courts are open at Bear Creek Park in Keller, according to Keller government social media.

The park held a soft opening the weekend of Sept. 9 with the grand opening scheduled for Sept. 23. The addition of the courts, which was approved earlier this year, brings the park’s total to eight.

Pickleball is a sport similar to tennis that is played with polymer or wooden paddles and a perforated plastic ball. According to USA Pickleball, which is the governing body of the sport, it has grown 21.3% from 2019-20. In the past five years, the average annual growth rate has been 11.5%, according to the website.
