Q&A: Meet the candidates running for Tarrant County judge

Why are you running for office?

Tarrant County needs a dependable leader. People want property tax relief, which I’ve delivered. People want to feel safe in their communities. I’ve delivered lower crime. We also need more high-paying jobs in Tarrant County, which I consistently work on. I will continue fighting for these things as county judge.

What are the biggest challenges facing the district?

Delivering property-tax relief while running efficient courts and jails, reducing crime and having well-maintained roads. County government must keep those core services excellent and eliminate waste. Unfunded mandates and rapid growth make that challenging, but taxpayers deserve relief and results. We also need to continue investing in mental health services.

How do you plan to address these issues?

I will continue my four-year record of cutting property taxes and maintaining the county’s homestead exemption while pressing the state for lasting tax reform. I take a business-like approach to government spending, prioritizing core services, crime reduction and bringing in more quality jobs to Tarrant County.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

Keep Tarrant the safest large county in Texas. Continue lowering property taxes through tight local budgets and state advocacy. Treat roads and bridges as a core duty so mobility keeps pace with growth for families and employers. Advocate for more mental health funding from the state and federal governments.

Why are you running for office?

I’m running for county judge because Tarrant County needs leadership that listens to residents, protects taxpayers and makes government work for everyone. I’ve spent my career serving our communities, from public safety to the Commissioners Court, and I’m ready to bring that experience countywide.

What are the biggest challenges facing the district?

Tarrant County is growing rapidly, creating pressure on infrastructure, public safety, healthcare, housing and county services. We also need greater transparency and accountability in how taxpayer dollars are spent. Our growth should strengthen communities and quality of life, not leave residents struggling to keep up.

How do you plan to address these issues?

I will focus on responsible budgeting, infrastructure investment, increasing access to county services and transparent government. I’ll bring residents, businesses, community organizations and local governments to the table so decisions reflect the needs of the people who live and work here.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

My priorities will be protecting taxpayers, improving infrastructure, strengthening public safety, expanding access to healthcare and county services, supporting good jobs and small businesses and restoring transparency and public participation in county government. Above all, I will make sure residents have a meaningful voice in their government.
