“We want Dallas to be recognized as an international city,” Paul said. “We feel like that can take shape in many forms, additional tourism, but then also additional businesses looking to move their headquarters or open up an office here in the DFW region.”

Host regions are expected to see an economic impact of $1.5 billion to $2.1 billion, according to a study FIFA did with accounting and consulting firm Deloitte.

In case you missed it

The city of Dallas’ Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was chosen to host the International Broadcast Center for the World Cup. Approximately 2,000 media representatives will use the center between January and August 2026 to cover both the build-up and the tournament itself, officials said.

This is Dallas’ second time hosting the IBC. The first was during the 1994 World Cup.

Giving back

Before the World Cup, fans can donate soccer items to participating Kroger stores as part of the organizing committee’s Community Soccer Equipment, Cleats and Shoe Drive. The drive begins June 11 and will run through June 30.

Participating locations include, but are not limited to Kroger’s at:

Ticket sales for the World Cup are not available yet for the general public, but are anticipated to go on sale in late summer or early fall, Paul said. Information will be available at www.fifa.com/tickets.
