Fire Station 37 is among three Fort Worth fire stations from prior bond programs that need additional appropriations to close a funding gap and execute construction contracts to make improvements.

The gist

According to city documents, the FWLab, which leads the city’s efforts to integrate comprehensive planning, capital programming, budgeting, performance management and data analytics, partnered with the fire department to monitor the statuses of capital projects and funding.

The capital project at Fire Station 37, located at 10600 Alta Vista Road, includes the following renovations:
  • Demolition of the existing fire station due to age and condition
  • Land acquisition
  • Design and construction of a new three-bay, double company fire station along with supporting infrastructure and equipment
Zooming in

City documents state the current budget for the project is $9.5 million. However, city officials are citing an increase in the building footprint and inflation, necessitating the additional $3.4 million in funding.

During a council work session Oct. 8, Fort Worth City Manager David Cooke said the item will be on the agenda at the next council meeting scheduled for Oct. 15.
