According to unofficial results with all precincts In Denton and Tarrant counties reporting, Roanoke Mayor Scooter Gierisch has won another term, beating his opponent by a little more than 700 votes. He defeated Sean Turner with 75.45% to Turner's 24.55%.

The mayor said he was happy to have earned the voters' trust and be elected mayor again.

"I'm very excited that the people of Roanoke have spoken loudly, that my leadership for the last 19 years has prevailed loudly," he said.


Gierisch talked about some happenings coming to the city, including the new police station to be completed in the next 18-20 months and a hotel project that will be built.

Early voting totals have been released for the Roanoke Mayor race on the May 4 ballot.

Incumbent Roanoke Mayor Scooter Gierisch heavily leads challenger Sean Turner in the mayor race, with Gierisch capturing 783 votes and Turner getting 212 votes. Terms are three years. Gierisch has served as mayor since 2005

In early voting, there were 42,141 ballots cast countywide In Denton County, which represents 6.5% of the area's 641,470 voters. In Tarrant County, 56,491 were cast among 1,276,106 voters, or 4.4%. Unofficial results are from the two counties.

Totals from ballots cast May 4 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
