Tarrant County College will begin offering courses at the Keller Collegiate Academy as part of a partnership with Keller ISD.

According to a June 1 post by the school district, the classes would be offered by TCC in the evening and be open to community members. The partnership also means the college would be able to use the KCA facility during after-school hours.

At its May 23 meeting, the KISD board of trustees unanimously approved the agreement between TCC and KISD for the dual-credit program and KCA.

The agreement aims to give students the opportunity to earn college and high school credits while enrolled in high school, according to the agenda item’s memo. KCA students will also now have the opportunity to earn an Associate of Science and anesthesia technology degree because of the agreement.

“Keller ISD continues to have a high demand for Tarrant County College dual-credit courses, especially those related to the core curriculum and technical pathways,” the memo states.

TCC and KISD will approve students who meet the program requirements to enroll in dual-credit courses, the memo states. The agreement also includes additional academic courses for high school students to transfer to public universities in Texas.

A community survey is being conducted in order for KISD to gather feedback on course interests, the district’s post states. The short survey asks four questions about KISD community members’ goals. To take the survey, click here.

“Our staff continues to figure out ways to provide opportunities for our kids,” KISD Superintendent Dr. Rick Westfall said at the May 23 meeting. “So I just think this is an amazing opportunity for what we're doing there.”
