The details
According to city documents, creating the MPDZ allows Alliance Center East No. 3 to be renovated into a soundstage and production hub that can accommodate both large-scale film productions and long-term television tenants.
Renovations on the 224,000-square foot facility are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to city documents. After renovations are complete, the space will be divided as follows:
- 72,000 square feet of soundstage space, which can be sub-divided into four 18,000-square foot stages or two larger 36,000-square foot stages
- Mill workspaces for set construction
- Office spaces for production teams
- Storage facilities and dedicated wardrobe areas
Fort Worth’s first MPDZ was created in 2018, when the City Council designated the Southside Tax Increment Financing District as Media Production Development Zone Number One, according to city documents.
City documents state the film and television production industry has had a $655 million impact in the greater Fort Worth area over the past eight years, which includes the creation of more than 20,000 jobs.
Recent TV and film projects produced in the city include "Miss Juneteenth," "12 Mighty Orphans," "Yellowstone" and "Landman."
