Owners Yasmin Tovar and her husband Jose opened Kaycee’s Cafe, Grill and Bar in the former Tio Carlos building in Keller.

The details

Tovar said the couple researched several locations throughout the Dallas-Fort-Worth area, including spots in Plano and Frisco, before settling on Keller.

“We think that this is a great area,” Tovar said.

The eclectic menu features Tex-Mex favorites such as tacos, flautas and chimichangas, American fare such as chicken fried steak and burgers and French cuisine such as tartiflette and quiche Lorraine.

There is also a separate area that features a bar, two pool tables and a stage for live music.

A closer look

Tovar said that she studied French cooking while she lived in France for three years. That inspired her to include French items on the menu that aren’t typically found in the Keller area.

“For example, for the tartiflette, it’s very hard to find the reblochon cheese, which is the secret of the recipe,” she said.

Tovar said that they named the restaurant Kaycee’s because she thought that it was a Texan-sounding name but she was also influenced by the popular gas station chain Buc-ee’s.
