Instrument shop Houghton Horns is opening a performing arts space in Old Town Keller, according to Keller city government.

Houghton Horns has been selling and servicing brass instruments in Keller for years. The owners decided to expand the operations and purchased a vacant funeral home with plans to renovate a portion of it into a performance hall and move the retail side of its business into the remaining portion.

Ideas for using the space include a 40-weekend series of classical and jazz performances on Saturday nights and a 32-weekend series of master classes on Sundays. City Council members approved a cash grant of $130,000 to cover the cost of installing a new fire suppression system in the space, according to Keller city government.
