Legacy ER & Urgent Care took over ownership of all E-Care Emergency Centers locations making them the largest U.S. provider of its kind. The locations include an additional Legacy ER & Urgent Care in Frisco at 16151 Eldorado Parkway, as well as four other locations throughout North Texas that belonged to E-Care. The first Frisco location is at 9205 Legacy Drive. Legacy ER & Urgent Care, headquartered in Plano, has been serving the Frisco and Allen communities for more than 7 years and it is one of the first stand-alone providers to offer both urgent care and emergency room services under one roof. “Our hybrid model is unique to Texas—there are no stand-alone ER-urgent care hybrids in other states,” said Keith Miller, president of Legacy ER & Urgent Care, in a news release. “ There are only three here in Texas, and we are by far the largest in terms of locations, employees and patients.” Under the hybrid model, Legacy ER & Urgent Care patients only pay emergency room prices when it is only an emergency, but they still have access to board-certified physicians and state-of-the-art equipment that is not usually available in stand-alone urgent care centers, according to the news release. Jay Woody, Legacy ER & Urgent Care’s founder and chief medical officer, said stand-alone urgent care centers aren’t required to have a doctor on site and typically do not have the same kind of treatment and diagnostic equipment available. “However, if you go to an ER, you’re charged ER prices even though about 70 percent of ER visits aren’t truly an emergency,” Woody said. “Legacy ER & Urgent Care is different. We give patients a better option.” To celebrate the new locations, Legacy ER & Urgent Care is offering $10 flu shots in all communities it serves.
