Colleyville City Council discussed plans to upgrade street signs to the updated “CV” monogram on new wayfinding signs.

What happened

Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery presented two different options for the new street signs at the Jan. 7 work session and gave an overview of what staff was looking at to begin the project.

The proposal was to start with changing out the signs at signalized intersections and then allocating funds annually to replace neighborhood street signs over the course of several years.

The first phase of the project is estimated to cost about $38,500 for 47 signs and consists of changing out signs at these signalized intersections:
  • SH 26 and Longwood Drive
  • SH 26 and John McCain
  • SH 26 and Tinker Road
  • SH 26 and Hall-Johnson Road
  • SH 26 and Church Street
  • SH 26 and Mission Lane
  • SH 26 and Main Street / Thompson Terrace
  • SH 26 and Glade Road
  • SH 26 and Centerpark Drive
  • SH 26 and Brown Trail / Mill Valley Drive
  • Cheek-Sparger and Brown Trail
  • Glade Road and Heritage Avenue
The intersection at SH 26 and Mission Lane currently has no street signs, so the city plans to add four. The intersection at SH 26 and John McCain currently has three signs, so the city plans to replace the three and add one more.

What’s next?

At the council’s request, Colleyville staff ordered two mockup illuminated signs with the new “CV” monogram consisting of the blue that the street signs currently have and a darker blue matching the city's wayfinding signs. The purchase was less than $1,000 and came out of the capital funds budget for the project, Lothery said.

Lothery said the signs will take five to six weeks to arrive and then council and staff will discuss next steps.
