Trophy Club Town Council members are expected to consider approval of the town’s fiscal year 2024-25 budget and property tax rate at an upcoming meeting in September.

In a nutshell

Officials held a public hearing for the town’s proposed budget, proposed tax rate and capital improvement plan during an Aug. 26 council meeting. The budget plans for $28.5 million in revenue and $38.5 million in expenditures, according to a staff presentation.

The FY 2024-25 tax rate has been proposed at $0.415469 per $100 of taxable valuation, which is the same tax rate that was passed by council last year.
Town Council members will consider adopting the budget and tax rate during the Sept. 9 meeting. Trophy Club residents can view the proposed budget and tax rate on the town’s website.

Breaking it down

Nearly $16.4 million in expenditures have been budgeted through the town’s general fund, which is used to cover the cost of daily operations. The general fund plans for a 3% cost-of-living raise for town employees and merit-based raises capped at 2%.

Expenses have also been budgeted to replace four vehicles for the Fire/EMS department and police department, according to the presentation. Other key highlights include:

Funding for the Taste of Trophy Club and Christmas in the Park events have been moved from the general fund to the hotel occupancy fund.

A budget of $250,000 has been allocated to the park fund for a parks master plan.

The community pool budget was separated from recreation in order to better track expenses.

Also of note

The capital improvement program plans for nearly $15.4 million to be spent on a combination of road projects, various sidewalk repairs, traffic improvements and pickleball courts, according to the proposed budget.

Road projects include:
  • Forest Hill Drive street replacement
    • $1.77 million
  • Paint Rock Court street replacement
    • $410,000
  • Palmetto Court street replacement
    • $810,000
Sidewalk projects include:
  • Parkview Drive sidewalk replacement
    • $80,000
  • Durango Drive sidewalk replacement
    • $45,000
The program also budgets about $1.3 million for construction of six new pickleball courts at Harmony Park. Council members greenlit the location for the new courts in August after agreeing to hire the McAdams firm to design them earlier this year.

Town officials have also budgeted $4.5 million to enhance traffic along Bobcat Boulevard. A report presented to council members in July made several recommendations for improving traffic flow along Bobcat Boulevard including installation of a traffic light and a roundabout.
