Why are you running for office?
My family settled in Southlake in 1997. After retiring in 2022, I saw Texas increasingly controlled by billionaire donors, restricting women’s access to healthcare and devaluing our public schools. Valuing public education, I decided to step up and advocate for common-sense solution that reflects our community’s interests.
What are the biggest challenges facing your district?
State funding for ISDs, which was set in 2019, has not been adjusted for inflation. Consequently, our schools are increasing tax rates, closing campuses, rezoning and selling property.
How do you plan to address these issues?
Increase the basic allotment from $6,180 to $7,400 to account for six years of inflation with ongoing adjustments for future inflation. [I’d] fight against school vouchers. Taxes levied for public schools should fund public schools, not private programs.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
I would invest in fully funding our public schools, fight against school vouchers, repeal the total ban on abortion and implement a $1,000 surplus refund for taxpayers to help with inflation.
