Vacant land north of Plano East Church of Christ is now considered its own lot after a planning and zoning committee meeting Sept. 8.

The approved zoning replat splits a 5-acre parcel of land near Merriman Drive and Ranch Estates Drive into two lots, according to city documents. The southern lot is the current location of Plano East Church of Christ, while the northern lot was separated with plans for it to be sold, per city documents.
The planning and zoning committee also approved a variance that waives a requirement for the church to construct a sidewalk on the vacant lot. Development Review Planner Ana Sutter said a sidewalk along the vacant lot would have limited connectivity because the rest of Ranch Estates Drive does not have a continuous sidewalk system.
