Mia Magaña was approved to serve as the new principal of Bear Creek Elementary School by the Grapevine-Colleyville CISD board of trustees at it regular meeting on June 17.

The details

A district news release states Magaña has spent her entire educational career in GCISD. Her positions include:
  • Assistant principal of Cross Timbers Middle School since 2018
  • Bilingual teacher, learning liaison and instructional coach at Timberline Elementary School
  • Summer school administrator
The news release states that Magaña has been involved in leadership roles beyond those listed above, including:
  • Professional development
  • Retention and hiring
  • Organizing campuswide initiatives and student clubs
She’s also led the languages other than English, math and special education teams, and assisted with emergency management, according to the news release.

According to the news release, Magaña holds the following degrees:
  • Bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina
  • Master of educational administration from Concordia University
She will begin her new role July 1.
